What is Fitness ?

To me fitness means being physically and mentally healthy and being able to perform the tasks I want to with efficiency. I find Army men, athletes, dancers etc. more fit than bodybuilders, actors and fitness models. Being fit means having various skills that are useful and functional in real life.

The most important skills that one needs to be called fit are:
  • Muscular Strength
  • Power
  • Muscular Endurance
  • Cardiovascular Endurance
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Balance
  • Flexibility
If you'll focus on developing these skills then you'll become fit.

The Most Common Misconception about Bodyweight Strength Training

The most common myth about bodyweight training is that there are not many options. You'll have to do Push Ups, Pull Ups, Sit Ups, Squats and there's not any other option. Majority of the people believe that it"s impossible to work every muscle group with bodyweight exercises which is wrong. There are many exercises and their variations by which you can work every single muscle in your body.

Every weightlifting exercise can be mimicked with bodyweight if you have creativity. There are many ways to work each muscle group of your body. You can make it harder or easier with different variations like even a 150 Kg man can do Wall Push Ups and if you are on advanced level you can also do Planche Push Ups or Aztac Push ups.

Handstand, Beach, Sea, Ocean, Sand, Exercise, Young

With increasing or or decreasing leverage, changing platform, pauses etc one can change the difficulty level of a exercise. So, when you get comfortable with any exercise you can just move to more difficult version of that exercise. The resistance is in your control.

Why Bodyweight Exercises ?

In present time, the popular training systems and diet plans are not for the fitness and wellness of our society but just the result of marketing by the billion-dollar fitness industry. From the fancy expensive gyms to the unnecessary supplements in the kitchens. All of these are result of marketing of the money minded people of fitness industry, because of this the simplest and the most effective way for developing strength and getting in shape has been largely overlooked. For getting in shape and training your body you don't need anything more than your body.

There are many advantages of bodyweight training:

  • Unlike weight training which isolates muscles, bodyweight exercises incorporate many muscles at once.
  • Bodyweight exercises also use motions that keeps you safe from many chronic injuries.
  • Bodyweight exercises gives us functional strength for our daily lives.
  • One can perform these anywhere.
With bodyweight movements you'll be developing all areas of fitness - strength, power, muscles, stamina, balance, coordination, flexibility etc. The bodyweight exercises can be done anywhere, anytime and by anyone. It's not only for those who don't have gym memberships but also for people who go to gym regularly as a valuable addition.

Welcome to the World of Bodyweight Srength Training

Because you’re reading this blog, I think it’s safe to say that you’re interested in learning how to
build strength and fitness through bodyweight training. If so, that’s great! You’ve come to the right
place.

Over the past 9 years, I’ve never taken more than a few days off from strength training. Although
I’ve trained in many gyms, fitness clubs etc. and sometimes even in outdoor locations. At first, when I started training I couldn't even do basic bodyweight exercises like pull us, push ups and I felt uncomfortable and awkward with weight training too. I've spent past 9 years learning as much as possible about human body and strength training and now I believe that one should master their own body before moving to other forms of strength training. Bodyweight exercises lay the foundation for
future training success, and correct performance requires a precise blend of mobility, stability, and
motor control. As you make progress and gain strength, it is possible to continue to push yourself
through bodyweight training so you continue to challenge the muscles and increase your athleticism.

But you need to learn the exercises and have a road map to help get you there and in this blog you'll get it.
